Masterclass Overview

This intensive three-day Masterclass is designed to provide participants with a practical, industry-driven understanding of purification technologies, combining scientific fundamentals with real-world industrial applications. The program covers Chromatography, Ion Exchange, and Membrane Filtration, offering a balanced approach between theory, process design, scale-up, and operational excellence.

22 and 23 September 2026 are dedicated to Chromatography and Ion Exchange, offering a deep and hands-on exploration of these key purification technologies. Participants will strengthen their understanding of core principles, separation mechanisms, resin selection, and process design, while exploring scale-up strategies from laboratory to industrial production. Through real industrial case studies, laboratory and pilot demonstrations, and expert-led sessions, the Masterclass provides concrete insights into system operation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization, including the use of advanced digital tools and platforms for day-to-day process efficiency.

24 September 2026 focuses on Membrane Filtration, delivering a concise yet comprehensive overview of membrane-based separation technologies. Participants will learn the key principles of ceramic and polymeric membranes, membrane selection criteria, system sizing, and best practices for industrial operation. The session emphasizes practical implementation, covering installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting, and includes industrial case studies and a live pilot demonstration, enabling participants to make confident, high-impact decisions to improve separation efficiency.

Purification Technologies in Practice.
By the end of the three days, participants will have acquired a clear, applied understanding of purification technologies, empowering them to optimize existing processes, support scale-up projects, and accelerate decision-making in industrial environments.

Detailed Program

Day Masterclass Topic Full description
Day 1
MASTER CLASS 1
Ion Exchange & Chromatography
Ion Exchange
Day 1 focuses on Ion Exchange technology, with an in-depth exploration of the mechanisms that enable selective separation at industrial scale. Participants will be introduced to key terminology, the evolution of ion exchange processes, physico-chemical interactions, and separation principles, along with practical guidance on resin selection and system sizing from pilot studies to full-scale operations.

The day also addresses the industrial implementation of ion exchange systems, covering installation, commissioning, operational best practices, routine maintenance, the troubleshooting—equipping participants to design, operate, and optimize ion exchange processes with confidence.
Day 2
MASTER CLASS 1
Ion Exchange & Chromatography
Chromatography
Day 2 is dedicated to Chromatography, focusing on the critical parameters that drive separation performance and process efficiency. Participants will strengthen their understanding of chromatography fundamentals, separation mechanisms, operating modes, and resin and media selection, with a strong emphasis on translating theory into industrial practice.

The program further covers the deployment and operation of chromatography systems at scale, including process design, system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Digital tools and platforms for operational optimization—such as performance monitoring, dashboards, and data management solutions—will also be presented, highlighting the role of digitalization in improving robustness and productivity.
Day 3
MASTER CLASS 2
Membrane Filtration
Membrane Filtration
Day 3 centers on Membrane Filtration technologies, offering a practical and industry-driven overview that connects fundamental principles with real industrial applications. Participants will develop a clear understanding of membrane-based separation mechanisms, process configurations, operating modes, and pore size selection, with particular emphasis on ceramic membrane technologies and system sizing from pilot testing to industrial scale.

The day focuses on the implementation and optimization of membrane filtration systems in industrial environments, covering installation, commissioning, operation, and performance optimization.
